Pass The Mic amplifies the voices of people from migrant and former refugee backgrounds who are shaping Aotearoa today.
What began as a collection of stories has grown into a multimedia platform featuring personal narratives and a podcast series. We create space for people to share their journeys in their own words celebrating the contributions, experiences, and perspectives that enrich our communities and strengthen the fabric of our nation.

Pass The Mic Podcast Season 1
Created in collaboration with Planet FM, Storyo and Sport Waitakere, Season 1 of the Pass the Mic podcast amplifies fifteen powerful voices from Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Featuring guests from Singapore, Congo, South Africa, Palestine, Samoa, China, Russia, the Philippines and Syria including climate change consultants, youth leaders, poets, engineers, and tech professionals, each episode explores what it means to navigate, contribute to, and belong in Aotearoa.
Conversations cover decolonisation, exploring identity, migrant relationships with Te Tiriti, finding your place as a migrant, young people and the future, depression and anxiety, faith, rainbow and queer culture, and urban planning with an ethnic lens.
These conversations go beyond surface-level storytelling. They're honest, unfiltered, and told by the people who live them, exploring the reality of building a life in Aotearoa with all its complexity, challenge, and hope.

Season 2 shifts focus to the employment experiences of migrants and former refugees in Aotearoa. Featuring brilliant guests from Colombia, Mexico, India, China, Egypt, and beyond, this season digs into the realities of navigating work and career in a new country, the barriers, the breakthroughs, and everything in between.
Conversations explore Te Tiriti and employment systems, networking in unfamiliar spaces, job applications, culture shocks in the workplace, neurodivergence and ADHD, changing careers, uplifting women of colour, volunteering as a pathway, politics, and building businesses.
